Thomas Brett is a musician and writer who holds a Ph.D. in ethnomusicology from New York University. His essays and book reviews have appeared in Popular Music & Society, The Oxford Handbook of Music and Virtuality, The Cambridge Guide To Percussion, and The Grove Dictionary Of American Music. His percussion compositions have been recorded on Eroica Records and he has released six collections of electronic music. Since 1997 Thomas has played percussion on Broadway and blogs about music, sound, and culture at brettworks.com.
