Keywords: Always In Transition

“Transition” notes Ernő Rubik, “is the very heart of inspiration and creativity”, and compelling music is always in transition on every level of its unfolding. Like a kaleidoscope in motion, music is a continuous becoming from one state to another—waveforms vibrating, chords progressing, melodies inventing, timbre-textures morphing, beats repeating, and arrangements growing—a form of life. Always in transition is music’s way of having its way, every facet shifting and evolving to produce a sound alive at many levels at once. Played or programmed, improvised or finessed, solo or together, music compels when each of its sounds is an energy trajectory, a little life of its own.
