Shoes. Running shoes have improved by bounds over the past ten years, with better foams, lighter designs, and plate technologies (carbon and plastic) that keep the pep in your step. Until recently, my favorite shoe was the Adidas EVO SL Woven (150.00), a non-plated yet light and bouncy daily trainer. But the EVO SL may be slightly bested by New Balance’s SuperComp Rebel V1. The SuperComp is more expensive (200.00) than the EVO because it’s plated, but the plate plus the shoe’s high energy-return foam make a ride that’s dynamic, plush, yet nimble. Right out of the box both the EVOs and the SuperComps are stellar. Special mention also goes to Asics’ Megablast and Superblast shoes, which I’ve put thousands of miles on.
Shorts and jacket. Path Projects makes shorts with pockets galore, including a long one on the backside that fits your phone. And their Graves PX jacket is without peer.
Headphones. Shokz. These bone conduction headphones let you hear that guy in the car behind you who’s running the stop sign, and also the birds.
Sunglasses. Goodr‘s affordable shades (30.00) make you look uncool, which is always the perfect disguise.
